About VNFM Network
Founded in 1988, the Vietnam Friendship Media (VNFM), along with other media networks in Northern California has fielded the media roles through television and radio broadcasting, as well as on the internet. VNFM continues to bring to the Vietnamese communities here and around the world the latest news, entertainment programs, music, cultural and historical perspectives, educational programs, legal issues, life issues, and editorials on current events in Vietnam and around the world.
In television, VNFM is temporarily broadcasting its television programming through YouTube, with a “Weekly Newscast” every Friday. Viewers have shown great interests in these newscast segments which include in-depth analysis. VNFM has been a regular contributor to the VNFM station, with programs broadcasting 5 hours per day for listeners in San Jose and neighboring cities. VNFM has been broadcasted on 96.1 FM and 103.3 FM stations for the last 22 years (a.k.a. VNFM 96, or FM 96.1 among regular listeners). According to an estimate published by Arbitron a few years back, the number of listeners tuned into this station each night are upwards of 70,000.
On its corresponding website, vnmedia.com, VNFM posts selected articles for viewer’s enjoyment. Here, information will be updated every 3 months or thereabout, depending on viewers' demand. In the 90’s, the monthly number of listeners logged onto vnmedia.com was the highest among all other similar websites. VNFM has also produced various products for sale to its listeners/viewers as a way to fund its operating budget. A brief introduction about these products can be heard by clicking
